This resource, by average gamers for average gamers, will highlight the Warhammer 40k hobby (& possibly others) in the Southeastern Missouri & Southern Illinois Area.
While I abhor metal miniatures and all that they represent, I'm not that big of a fan of resin either. I also enjoy price increases about as much as a swift kick to the tender parts. I need a new hobby.
You don't even need to sell that much 40k to buy a good amount of FoW, especially if you're not committed to buying exclusivly FoW minis (Old Glory are CHEAP).
I would love a game system with a smaller footprint, but I'm hooked on the "look & feel" of 40k. I have a sizable chunk of Salamanders, but I could always use more marines to try out different varieties (all termies, all bikes, etc.). Not to mention trying out an entirely different army. Will I ever update my I.G. to 5th edition? I can't say I'm surprised by the price increases, but I certainly don't have to enjoy them. I just feel guilty standing in my LGS playing a game telling the young kids and their parents that while this game is fun, I simply cannot recommend they get into it unless they have significant amounts of disposable money.
I wasn't insinuating you should feel guilty for warding away the youngsters, bro. On the contrary I am always 110% open about the cost of the hobby when asked. When the Nerd Word guys asked me at Brewfest last year, my response was "How much do you want to spend?". They repeated that on their show which made me smile. I had slowly begun to feel that GW had realized their ass-hattery, quietly whispered an mia culpa, and were intent on salvaging their reputation in the community. I no longer suffer those delusions. I'm just grateful that I own a HUGE amount of the 40K models I will likely ever want/need, and thanks to folks like "The Bits Guy" I have the option to hunt for bargains once or twice a year. It's been a very long time since I actually purchased anything from GW directly, and something tells me it will be a cold day in tropical places before I do so again.
I've already bought into Malifaux, and this will finally push me into starting Flames of War. I don't need to buy anything else, barring the odd codex, from GW for the rest of 5th Edition.
As for 6th... We'll see if GW removes it's head from it's anus in time. I will not rebuild my army significantly for a new edition anymore.

It's a resin/plastic mix, and the price increase is annual so no surprise there.
but every time they increase the price, I get more tempted to sell my 40K, and buy Flames of War...
